Ideas Under Development

3 May 2012 — 4 Comments

I’ve been putting together this site for a few months now. Most of it is still brewing in my head. Some of it has found itself tossed on scraps of papers while others in iPhone productivity apps. I was searching to do a site that I just simply enjoyed building, writing and designing. I’ve had other sites before in the past. They were fun to begin, and I enjoyed the interaction and introduction of others who I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

Towards the end of those blogs, I had become disenchanted due to their ability to suck time and energy out of me. They were requiring more and more research. They became homework assignments in a class I didn’t have to be in.

They were no longer fun. So I stopped.

Life became busy, as life likes to do, but there was still a part of me that wanted to continue this project. I wanted to continue the conversation. But this time I wanted to start things different. I wanted to take what I had learned from the other sites, things I had learned about myself even, and build a stage for all of it to work.

That’s when I started to collect and organize my ideas.

Except my ideas felt fragmented, or maybe they were just undeveloped. There was not a single and simple niche that I could through myself into. They were an unfortunate collection of niche ideas. This showed me that my collection of interests are not necessarily a result of well roundedness, but maybe one of improper dedication to developing those ideas.

Like an impatient gardener, I would often plant new ideas when I didn’t immediately see the fruit of my past ideas blossom. But only because this was one of my favorite parts: the idea stage.

Because I like ideas.

Ideas push progress. Ideas push development. They can be funny, sad, uplifting, and even inspire more ideas. But before it can do any of this, the idea itself needs to be developed.

I look forward to continuing our conversation. Over the next couple of days I’ll share a little more about what’s going on, why the lack of personalized site design and what you can expect from this site for the future. But for now, I guess I just wanted to share the point of this whole site:

A collection of ideas under development.
